Dr. A. Laxminarayana was Till Recently Working As Emeritus Scientist Of The Indian Council Of Agricultural Research (Govt. of India) At Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Cochin, Kerala State, India. He Has More than 40 Years Of Research And Teaching Experience And 35 Years Of Experience In Administration, Consultancy And Extension. He Is An Internationally Known Consultant In Aquaculture and Fisheries especially In The Fields Of Shrimp, Freshwater Prawn, Mudcrab, Fishes, Sea Cucumber Breeding Seed Production And Culture, Environmental Science and In Aquaponics. He Is A Recipient Of National Award For The Year 1980 – 81 For His Outstanding Research Contributions In The Field Of Shrimp Breeding and Culture. He Is The Recipient Of Rashtriya Gaurav Award For The Year 2016 And Glory Of India Gold Medal For The Year 2016.

Dr.A.Laxminarayana, an internationally known Scientist in the field of aquaculture and fisheries is a recipient of several awards for his outstanding contributions to fisheries, aquaculture, and society. He Was Recipient Of Several Awards Such as the Rashtriya Gaurav Award, Glory of India award and the Mother Teresa excellence award Bharat Ratna APJ Abdul Kalam Excellence Award and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Excellence Award at the international level.
Earlier, he was the recipient of ICAR award for his valuable contributions to aquaculture and fisheries

Dr.A.Laxminarayana was formerly with the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute as Principal Scientist and Head of Fishery Environment Management Division and Chief Training Organizer of the Trainers Training Center. He has developed technologies for the breeding, seed production and culture of shrimps. He has also developed technologies for the seed production of shrimps by artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization for the first time. He also developed technologies for breeding, seed production and culture of freshwater prawns, mud crabs, finfishes and sea cucumbers.

Dr.A.Laxminarayana has served/serving as Adviser /Consultant in Aquaculture and Fisheries to Several Government and private organizations in India, Mauritius, Cambodia, Iran, Oman, Srilanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, Qatar, Bahrain, Maldives, Namibia, Vietnam, Tanzania, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea etc. He has served/serving as Consultant to World Bank, Asian Development Bank, FAO of United Nations, ILO of United Nations, Japan International Co-operation Agency [JICA], NABARD, KITCO KFW Development Bank of Germany Deloitte, PWC, Agriculture Skill Development Council of India (Govt of India) ETC. He has also worked at the University of California, U.S.A on an FAO Fellowship.

He has served as Visiting Professor at several prestigious universities. He is the Expert member of several Government of India committees on aquaculture and Fisheries. As a Fisheries Expert, he is evaluating the aquaculture projects implemented by the various state governments under the Blue Revolution scheme of NFDB, DADF, Government of India. He is the National Level Monitoring Committee member to evaluate the central government schemes by the state governments. And he is the reviewer of several national and international journals dealing with aquaculture, fisheries, and environment.
